FAQS

If you want to ask a question or commit to purchasing the book or item, simply click on the book or item from the list and fill out the 'Contact Seller' form and your information will be automatically emailed to the Seller!! Wait for their response and set up the transaction yourselves!! It's that easy!!

Before committing to purchase a book, be sure to contact the seller and ask if their book falls into the category of what they have selected for book condition when submitting the contact seller form.

Like New This selection would include an unread, brand new book in perfect condition. It also includes a book in near mint condition, which would mean, a shiny, undamaged cover, a dust jacket for hard covers, no missing pages, all pages are undamaged, no underlining or highlighting, no damage to binding, no writing in the margin area. This could be a used textbook but can be mistaken for a brand new book.

Very Good This would be a book that can be viewed as used but is still in great condition. No noticeable damage to the cover, possible dust cover, no missing pages, no damaged pages, no underlining or highlighting, no writing in margins, very minimal wear and tear. This book would be considered in great condition with a little bit of use.

Good Very minimal damage to the cover, no tears and very minimal scuff marks. No missing pages. Minimal wear to the binding, almost all pages are undamaged, minimal pencil, underlining, highlighting, & margin writing. The buyer should be able to use this textbook and not be thrown off by what previously happened to the book.

Acceptable Some damage to the cover, but for the most part the book is still intact, some writing in margins, underlining, highlighting, no missing pages. The seller should still be able to sell this book to still be used for reference.

Not Acceptable Major damage. Cover is missing or beaten down. Several pages missing, folded, or damaged. Book is not necessarily able to be used, but for the most part can be looked at as something that is still somewhat legible for the buyer to use for reference but not for class. You shouldn't feel comfortable buying or selling this condition of book.

If the seller is willing to meet as an option for their shipping method, we recommend you meet the seller in one of our recommended SAFEZONES at their University.  We recommend you open a Paypal account, www.Paypal.com which will allow you to transfer your money at the location of the swap. Have some sort of computer and internet access for that. Otherwise, whatever the seller is willing to accept for payment works great too!

Ulotta.com is free for everybody!! There is an option for the seller to increase your item's exposure by making it a featured listing, which only costs $1.00. If a buyer is interested in a possible good being sold, that is handled between the buyer and the seller. There are no percentages or fees involved in the transaction of buying or selling an item, this is where your major savings come in to play versus any competition Ulotta.com may encounter. In addition we allow the ad to remain on our website until it sells, no renewal fees or additional listing fees. (See Ulotta.com's terms and conditions)

There are several reasons why this is a "Better Alternative" to your Campus Bookstore. One, you set your own price!! Most of the time you are lucky to get your book purchased back from the bookstore, if you are able to sell it back, you are looking at getting a SuperValue meal at your local fast food restaurant back for each book.  They are ripping you off!! By using Ulotta.com, your fellow students are able to purchase your book from you for what they would normally purchase a used book for (if you play your cards right, sell your book for a great value so it sells), and in most cases are able to get that book from you the same day!!

Ulotta.com is essentially the host for bringing the buyer and the seller together for a transaction of what is being sold or posted. If the item being sold is a textbook or some sort of other item, the seller will post the ad and wait to be contacted by a possible buyer. Arrangements are made between the buyer and seller for swapping of the item. The seller has the option to meet the buyer in person, most likely at Ulotta.com's recommended SAFEZONE at that University, or they are able to ship the item as well.  There are no charges from Ulotta.com for the actual transaction.

Ulotta.com opens at schools once we have some books to post or have a campus rep available.  The last thing that we want is someone from a school to click on their University and nothing is listed at their school.  We want you to feel confident about buying and selling books if Ulotta.com is available at your University!! If you wish to make some money while going to school, fill out our Campus Rep Program form and we will get your University submitted into our system for your fellow students to be able to swap their books and items!! You will make a percentage on everything done at your school, it's that easy!!

We recommend you utilize your campus SAFEZONE, this is a place where both you the seller and your possible buyer will feel safe to handle your transaction.  All Safezones that are recommended have either WiFi and/or the internet is available on one of their computers so the money can be transferred from one Paypal account to another. By all means, as the seller, you can accept any form of money you wish, but this is the best way and safest for both parties involved.

As the seller, you may accept any form of payment that you wish. Ulotta.com recommends you open a Paypal account if you do not have one, www.Paypal.com. This will open the door to more possible buyers who want to feel a bit more secure than handing you cash.

Be sure to follow this guide for posting textbooks, your potential buyer will be referring to this as well.

Be sure to put your item at a price that will sell, you will not be able to adjust your price once posted.  Your goal and our goal is to be able to swap your books, so don't overprice your items or you won't make any money!

The possible buyer will fill out the form that is provided in your item description.  This form will be automatically emailed to you!! At that point you two discuss and handle the transaction from there, the buyer will probably feel most safe in one of our recommended SAFEZONES at your University. You set up the transaction and start making some money!! Be sure to mark your book or item as sold on the website, otherwise you will continue to get interested buyers!
